hi what on earth is orv

(pinning this temporarily bc i keep getting asks <3)

Omniscient Readers Viewpoint is a korean webnovel and webtoon by Sing Shong! the webnovel is out in its entirety and the webtoon is still in the process of being made, though it’s very far behind. The webtoon might be bit easier as a starting point, as the translation is smoother and the visualization helps. Both are excellent and I really really do recommend reading the webnovel itself as that is the form it was written for.

it’s about a guy who is the only person who has read this really long obscure webnovel in its entirety and then when the webnovel ends, the events of it begin to unfold in real life and now this guy who otherwise rly had nothing going for him, has a major leg up in the new murder game apocalypse hell world. It sounds like a pretty straightforward isekai but it really goes above and beyond thematically.

reading it was an emotional rollercoaster that made me laugh, mutter in horror and cry harder than i have in ages. I would recc it to enjoyers of homestuck, spn fans who wish the meta shit was actually good, those who enjoy a good ol hunger games style battle royale, and i think anyone who enjoys an action packed shonen/seinen would enjoy as well.

if you want a more in-depth recc this is the post that made me read it

where to find it:

Webtoon: it’s a fully illustrated webcomic. it is ongoing.

Webnovel: it’s the original prose translated to english. it is completed.

Epub: same as above but an epub and with some translation stuff standardized.

Audiobook: It’s me. It’s my audiobook. Recently started but will be updating once a week with ~1hr long updates. On hiatus until August.

Audiobook: Another fan made audiobook. Stopped Updating around 4 months ago at chapter 112.

our dear yiling laozu who famously never did anything wrong !!

id be mad as hell if during my warrior ceremony the leader of my clan gave me the suffix -foot. thats the same name. i just had that name. you didnt even try

meatbun is good at writing deranged interpersonal melodrama and can really nail you with some moments of tragedy but the political drama and mystery elements are considerable weaker ngl. it’s hard not to skim the chapters that aren’t about mo ran and/or cwn having big feelings

Bingyuan is such a funny concept to me, bc it has that moshang thing where the hottest man you've ever seen is in love with some guy, but up to a thousand because of Luo Binghe's hysterics. like, imagine you're bystander watching the hottest man you've ever seen in your life have a mental breakdown in public bc his date is 5 minutes late, you're pretty sure you heard him sniffing back his tears while on the phone, then his date, world frailest twink, walks in wearing an Itachi Shirt, scolds him for being such a drama queen then walks out holding hot man's hand while the dude follows behind him like a little kid, i'd think i witnessed something i shouldn't tbh

the worst thing abt gay peers my age is that i cant tell who im allowed to say faggot around and who will go on tiktok and make a video about me saying faggot around them

Thank you for this one actually

i’m at like chapter 205 and this shit is so convoluted and complicated but not… very smart. like. there’s a lot of Stuff happening, but it’s not very engaging to read like. “so. ok. if you make two evil bugs fuck and then put the evil bug on this magical go piece and then put the offspring on these other magical go pieces and stick on to a weak corpse and one to a strong corpse you can use the weak corpse to control the strong corpse. i’m going to use my lasso of truth to interrogate this corpse about where the bad guy is now- ah fuck! someone fed the corpse a Snitches Get Stitches Snake so she can only lie :( idk the bad guy is probably on Powerful Corpse Mountain rn that’s my guess”

which like. this isn’t good mystery writing. this is not fun to read. i definitely like that this book gets weird and silly with the magic, but these magical plot pieces aren’t introduced at a pace that the actual mystery is fun to read. it often feels a little like… kids playing a game where someone is like “i kill you with my sword” and the other kid is like “you can’t kill me with that sword because i’m wearing enchanted armor” and then the first kid going “actually my sword is by dragon fire and can piece all armor” etc etc. it feels kind of lazy

Need me a girl that shoplifts 😩

A vertical image of several graves one under another. On the surface, close to the upper edge of the image, legs of several characters visible. Lee Gilyoung is sitting on the ground, hands on his knees. Shin Yoosung is almost laying on the ground, hiding head in her hands. In each of the graves is alive Kim Dokja at various stages of acceptance with the closest to the surface appearing calm, looking at something on his phone. The deeper the graves, the more they are filled with pages and pages, and the more desperate each Kim Dokja seems. The last grave, the one cut off by the lower edge, is completely filled with pages.ALT

"Someday, i may be devoured by this [wall] as well".

rong jiu and song qiutong haunt me so much. the fact that people dislike song qiutong is so wild to me. like. stop just agreeing with mo ran and chu wanning’s deranged opinions about her completely understandable behavior

mo ran, who has apparently not tormented this woman enough: gotcha song qiutong! i proved…

mo ran: that…. uh…. if framed for a crime you didn’t commit and accused extremely publicly in front of a crowd of people that Literally want to eat and/or rape you that you will throw a man of higher social standing under the bus in a desperate bid to save your own life?

mo ran: see everyone! she really is evil

it’s just completely wild to me that someone could read a book so preoccupied with people’s capacity for evil when put in terrible circumstances and how that doesn’t necessarily make them Intrinsically evil could ever accept the way mo ran perceives song qiutong uncritically. cmon team. he is Not a reliable narrator

i will try and tag my erha posting and i don’t get into details but followers who are sensitive to content related sexual violence and child abuse should probably blacklist my “2ha posting” tag
